Luster

Worth checking out Luster
Got an early look at this film and I found it to be a fun and wild ride of a movie. Billy Burke plays a crazy pawn shop owner and there are a lot of recognizable faces that pop up throughout the movie. It is a really cool take on the Jekyll and Hyde mythology. If you are a fan of independent cinema, you should take the time to watch this one.

FIND YOUR DARK SIDE
This is a 2010 film repackaged. Thomas (Andrew Howard) owns a design studio and has trouble sleeping. As it turns out this is a modern Jekyll and Hyde film. Thomas doesn't remember what his other half does at night, but he leaves him notes and messages on his phone.

There is talk radio chatter in the background that connects to the film. Normally I like this stuff as being clever, but this one is borderline. The acting was decent. Good characters. The plot didn't keep up with the rest of the film. The film has a quirky style to it. It is listed as a horror and indeed the film has horror elements such as blood and killing, but I did feel it as a horror as much as I did a thriller.

Worth a rental.

Parental Guide: F-bomb, sex, male rear nudity (Andrew Howard).

Down the Shore

Childhood Scars, Adult Disambiguation
DOWN THE SHORE is one of those little sensitive films that seems like it is lightweight until the secrets of the story begin to leak. It is a film about thwarted human relations that have a core of ill-define tragic misconceptions. It is well written (by Sandra Jennings), well directed (by Harold Guskin) and happens to provide a showcase for some inordinately gifted actors who usually are not given the attention they deserve.

The film opens in Paris where a handsome Jacques (the very impressive Italian actor Edoardo Costa) is cranking a carousel for children in a little park. Observing him is a winsome Susan (Maria Dizzia) who speaks no French but in a rare moment of instant chemical gaze we can see that she and Jacques connect. Susan hires Jacques to be her guide while she is in Paris - and then we see them no more. The scene changes to 3 months later when Jacques comes to Susan's home in New Jersey, meets her brother Bailey (a brilliant role for James Gandolfini),...

James Gandolfini plays another "Jersey Guy", but way different from Tony Soprano. Nice small film
This small independent film puts Sopranos' star James Gandolfini back in northern New Jersey in a small seaside resort town (which is never identified by name.) This time he is not a gangster but a single guy, who once had a high school sweetheart (the girl who, literally, lived next door) but she married one of his "best friends". He now runs the train ride in the small amusement park owned by that "friend". When his sister goes off to Paris and doesn't come back he is forlorn until a man from France comes to visit him and ends up changing his life forever. To tell you any more would spoil the surprises and drama that seep out slowing in the 93 minute film. Gandolfini gets a lot of screen time and his range of emotions is well chosen. The rest of the cast is excellent two including actress Famke Janssen (X-men) as the former girlfriend, now the mother of a developmentally disabled teenager.
I'm sure this film played very few theaters but it's the kind of film that's great to...

More From The Jersey Shore: Good Performances Distinguish This Downbeat Character Piece
Maybe it's just me, but the Garden State always seems to be the setting for downbeat family dramas. "Down The Shore" is just one more example of desperate souls living in disappointment and regret as the world they knew crumbles around them. If you watch a lot of indie films, you will instantly recognize the template that characterizes many of these stories. Therefore, I was initially wary of "Down The Shore." I was afraid it wasn't going to be able to offer me anything new. And in many ways, it didn't. As the movie progresses, dark secrets are revealed, old passions are rekindled, and new betrayals are uncovered. Three childhood friends (James Gandolfini, Famke Janssen, and Joe Pope) are at the center of this tale. Their lives will come crashing down around them on deserted Jersey beaches and dilapidated boardwalk amusement parks. And yet, due to the grounded performances, I was won over by the film's intimacy and sadness.

Gandolfini plays a down-on-his luck amusement...

The Werewolf And The Yeti (Night Of The Howling Beast) [VHS Retro Style] 1975

The Werewolf and the Yeti, starring Paul Naschy aka Jacinto Molina, 1975
I have been awaiting the release of this title for 15 years. The film was originally entitled "La Maldicion de La Bestia" (the same title the DVD actually displays in the opening moments of the film) but those who put out the DVD call it "The Werewolf and the Yeti" One of the better of Naschy's werewolf flicks from the 1970's. To those who have access to putting out obscure Paul Naschy Spanish horror films I would say this: How about releasing the following three titles sometime in the near future (even bootleg copies are better than no copies at all): :La Venganza de Momia" aka "The Mummy's Revenge" (1973); "La Bestia Y La Espada Magica" aka "The Beast and the Magic Sword" (1983)-this, a Hispano/Japanese co-production-; and " El Aullida del Diablo" aka "Howl of the Devil" (1988). Maybe this can be done sometime over the next year or two! Let's hope so.

Glitchy resurrection of OOP classic
The quality of this DVD-R is not at all worth the current 14.99 price tag. First of all, my blu ray player (which has never had an issue playing DVD-Rs in the past) refused to play this disc. Luckily, my Xbox 360 was more agreeable. However, the feature is riddled with instances where the frame freezes awkwardly for a split second. It's a little distracting, but not utterly unwatchable. Aside from that, the transfer looks pretty good to me. I give two stars for providing a digital version of a Paul Naschy classic not available anywhere else in the states. I would be willing to increase to four stars if the bugs were worked out or if the price was lowered to 4.99.

This is the first review I've ever written on Amazon. I felt compelled to let people know exactly what they were receiving for the price. Had I known, I certainly wouldn't have spent that much money.

Truncated
A full 6 minutes was cut from this movie for this new DVD. This DVD ran 82 minutes. The full movie is 88 minutes This was some butcher job. Better off getting the VHS Video tape which contains the entire movie. I hate it when they do this. Do not buy.

Tiny Tumblers: Fantastic Gymnastics

Fun, engaging program!
Kari is a first-class athlete and an engaging teacher. We love this! My five boys, ages 2 to 9, all participate in Tiny Tumblers together and they remain interested throughout the program. Each skill is introduced simply and enthusiastically. My kids appreciated seeing both Kari's professional skills and the child gymnasts' beginning skills. The video has introduced my kids to a sport that they might not otherwise be exposed to, and now they're thinking that classes at a gym might not be so intimidating. Thanks, Kari, for this experience!

Tiny Tumblers
This was what I was looking for for my 3 year old. She enjoyed this kids in this dvd and the teacher was great.

Not bad - but definitely for the under 4's
I purchased this for my 4 year old daughter, who has been doing gymnastics for a few months. It's an enjoyable dvd - the presenter is keen, friendly, up-beat and entertaining, and she introduces the skills in a fun and safe way for kids to try at home.

I'd say, however, that the whole tone is really aimed at the under 4's. The songs go on a *bit* too long and are a bit too childish for my 4 year old, who wanted to know more about each skill, and how to practice it, rather than hear about it in a song.

The other disappointing aspect of this dvd is that, in many of the skills the presenter is demonstrating, the shot is framed in a such way that the lower half of her legs are cut off...which means when she's trying to show what a lunge is, for example, you can't actually SEE the lunge. The show then cuts away to a whole heap of very gorgeous little kids, all trying the skill at home...but none of them are doing it correctly either. So if you're watching and...

Family

decent timewaster
This is my first attempt to review a film that's not horror, or a documentary. This falls under the thriller category, or maybe even film noir. I do know that it's hard to describe much in the plot without giving away twists, and maybe that's a good thing, because this film is worth your time to watch.

We start out with Jean (Renee Humphrey), a small time crook, on the run from the cops. She makes her getaway, but her vehicle breaks down, leaving her to hitchhike and hope for the best in the heat. She finds luck in Eldon (Boyd Kestner) and his son Cody (Tanner Richie). They are traveling across country to see "The Real America", and they pick up Jean to ride to wherever she decides she wants to go.

We find out some things about Eldon. He is an ex-cop, a seemingly ex-husband, and for some unknown reason he clings to his newly found friend Jean. All is not what it seems on any front at all. The twists and turns are many, and the cat and mouse mind games are fun to...

Suspenseful & Intriguing
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie! Watched it on a rainy day and it was the perfect movie for the mood. The performances were excellent and it was totally entertaining. Would definitely recommend.

Quality core turned bland and dull by poor execution
Judge Daryl Loomis, DVD Verdict-- Family is an intriguing concept, but a pretty terrible movie. What amazes me most, though, is that it was made in 2006 and not 1996. The only thing that distinguishes it from a 20th Century movie is the kid playing with a PSP instead of a Gameboy. Otherwise, everything appears as it would have for a B-movie from the 1990s, and that's not pretty. It appears to have premiered on the Lifetime Movie Network, which makes plenty of sense, given its TV-friendly aspect ratio and generally cruddy look. Confirmation of this is difficult, though, considering that any online searches for the movie reveal mostly lists for the best family films available and, clearly, this is not what I'm looking for. By all indications, however, Family was made for television and comes with all the poor production that entails.

In its core concept, Family could easily have worked. The story of a criminal forced to do good in the face of greater evil, a kid in peril, a...

Bad Kids Go To Hell

So awful I HAVE to buy the DVD
The preview looked good. A horror version of the Breakfast Club. I started to get worried though when the main character crashes his car in an empty parking lot. A piece of paper blocked his windshield, then rather than just stop in the empty parking lot, he continued to accelerate and drive around blind until he drove into a light pole. Scary.

The next sign was the incredibly bad CGI cockroaches. Wouldnt it have been better, cheaper and easier to get a couple real cockroaches? Then we meet the main characters. All look like their in their mid 20's or older. The actress with the mega eyebrows playing the prom queen looked anorexic. The goth girl looked real rough especially when her makeup washes off. Like Lindsey Lohan on a bender rough. Both these girls need an intervention. BUT, the headmaster played a good part, the jock, the hot brainy chick, the janitor and Nelson from the original Breakfast Club all do a good job.

Then we get to the flashbacks of...

"Bad Kids Go to Hell" Is Worth Watching
The title of this neat little plot twister is unfortunate. I'm therefore guilty of judging a book by it's cover and this movie by its title. Shame on me. But, I happen to think Ben Browder is a gem of an actor and a canny one, to boot. What could possibly entice him into a bad movie? So I decided to give it a look...and I'm glad I did.

As I said, it has a neat plot twist and some very comic moments to keep the blood and gore from totally taking over. In that regard, the casting of the disabled student is a masterpiece. I'm sure that in one instance, the fact that he looked exactly like Beeker the Muppet was not a coincidence. I did have a problem with the roaches in one respect. Sure, they're like "bad kids" in that they are hard to get rid of, but considering how rich the school is, while the kids may be there, the insects would have been visited by Orkin, I'm sure. If you're a fan of the genre, which I prefer sheer fright to gore, you'll note there is...

Fun movie - Faithful to the comic
In a category of Indie horror/ teen thrillers, this is a fun and well put together film. I would even say that it comes close to the same quality as the studio level releases. There's some good TnA, some nice gore and some scary moments that will generally keep you entertained. Plus, it's shot a lot better then most indie films and will leave you much more satisfied then the normal indie shlock that groups like Asylum puts out.
It's faithful to the comic book with a few adjustments to add to the over-all plot. So if you've read the comic, you'll know basically what's coming but it's fun to watch.

I'm a huge fan of Kristen McGee's DVDs. I'm 35 years old, married, no kids, busy work-schedule and her Kristin McGee S3 - Strong, Sexy Svelte DVD along with her Weight Loss Pilates DVD simply keep me in shape. I like her attitude, which is not obnoxious as some trainers tend to be... I can relate to her and her instructions are always very clear.

As there are 2 different workouts (that can be combined if you have time, I usually don't) on her S3 DVD and 3 different workouts on her Weight Loss DVD (that can be combined if you have time, again I usually don't), I can do five days of different workouts without ever getting too repetitive. Craig Shoemaker: Daditude

Shoemaker Returns With A Set That Balances Nostalgia And Edginess
Rubber-faced comedian Craig Shoemaker returns in the Showtime stand-up special "Daditude" and it's good to see him again. I've followed the talented Shoemaker for more years than I care to admit. You might even say that we've officially pushed into middle age together. It's always a bit concerning when an edgy comedian approaches maturity and turns into a proud family man. There is a possibility that he'll simply become too mellow to push the boundaries of comedy impropriety. With Shoemaker naming this tour "Daditude," I was afraid we might be seeing a kindler and gentler act than we've become accustomed to. And in minor ways, that is somewhat true. Shoemaker certainly embraces his age and much of his material deals with this new disconnect with a younger population. In fact, in a running gag, he explains many of his jokes to an eighteen year old in the audience because his references are generally before her time.

In that way, Shoemaker's reflections have a...

not that fresh but still very funny!
I'll start by saying I think Craig Shoemaker is terrific, he is super funny,a great singer actually, capable of incredible impressions and my favorite thing about him is his knack for nostalgia and contrasting the childhoods of the baby boomers with the current generations. I should also add I was at this show when it was filmed here in Southern California ,nearly two years ago.

The reason I titled my review as I did , is simply that in the three stand up DVDs Craig has out... he repeats his best bits , often. In fact about 75% is the same disc to disc and show to show , with slight variations. Unlike Carlin, Miller, Reagan, Titus and others who work for a couple of years polishing new material and then FILM THAT SHOW, Craig is always filming a version of his only show.... BUT IT IS A REALLY FUNNY ACT!

I guess what I'm saying is, if you don't have one of his DVDs... starting here is as good as anywhere. If you already own...

I give this one as gifts!!! We all need a gift of laughter once in awhile...Seen him 3 times in person!!

How to Deal [HD]

It's NOT a romantic comedy
New Line has sold this movie short and filed it as a Romantic Comedy but I must stress it is not. It's a teen drama with some romance and humor. Think of it as a teen version of American Beauty. Though it's all rather light, How to Deal does have some seriousness and important parts.

Mandy Moore (marry me?) is Halley Martin, a teenage girl who refuses to believe that true love exists (like me). Her best pal does but is heartbroken when her boyfriend drops dead on the football field of a heart defect (err...like me). Halley's parents have split and found others, her sister is engaged to some guy and all they do is argue. It seems like the best way to deal with love is to avoid it.

All that changes when Halley meets Macon (stupid name) a geeky Star Wars nerd. He seems like a dweeb at first but his character grows on you, as he does Halley. He's played by Trent Ford and on the cover he's wearing a white vest and is marketed as a sexually neutral, non-threatening...

This Movie was good...
When I heard that Mandy Moore was starring in this movie, I immediatey found more info about it. I liked the discription but I didn't get to see it a the theater. I got the DVD for Christmas and I really liked it. I think that Sarah Dessen's two books are better seperately (especially Someone Like You), but then I think that about every movie that's made from a book. Books just have bettter detail. Mandy's character was well portrayed; Halley acted basically like a normal teenager. I really felt like I could relate to her. Scarlett (Alexandra Holden) was in a position that lots of teenage girls are in, and I really liked the issues in this movie. It looked at teenage sex realistically and tells it like it is. The romantic parts were fun to watch. I really liked Halley and Macon (Trent Ford) together. I especially think this movie would be good to watch if you are trying to deal with divorce or any of the issues in this movie because people can relate so well to the situations. This is...

Offensive Anti-Male Propaganda
This is a ridiculously overheated attempt to cast all guys in the same unflattering light. The reason I find it offensive, it is aimed at teenage girls and really provides them with a distorted view of men. Each male character in this movie is presented as a jerk, a wimp, a loser, etc, etc. Don't believe it, there are decent guys in the world.

On top of all that, the movie has no real narrative center. The main character (Mandy Moore) basically reacts to everyone else around her. We never get a feel for who she is, or why we should relate to her in any way. The side characters, while more interesting, are presented so haphazardly that they aren't well-developed either.

I'd give it one star, but Mandy Moore is cute and fun to watch.

This is the film that compelled me to seek out the underground
I have always been attracted to the rave culture, and I love the electronic music genre but I never really ventured into the world of the underground electronic music and dance scene until after I watched this movie (saw it first on the big screen when it came out to theaters in SF). The basic premise of the film: people in the scene are given the opportunity by the filmmaker to express their opinions on the differences between commercial music and DIY electronic music and the culture associated. It shows the good and the bad that the underground has to offer.

Inu X Boku Secret Service: Complete Collection

An Excellent Fantasy Comedy and Love Story
This is a great Anime that is more unexpected then typical fantasy comedy romance ones. The story starts with Ririchyo a Girl who comes from a very wealthy family whom is sent to live in a special Hotel with other special wealthy people who each get their own Personal Body Guard. This one starts very typical with a few silly moments put in here and there. Until it gets to a point where some would be thieves decide to rob the residents. Its then revealed that the reason for the tight security and the Body Guards is not to Protect the Residents from the outside, but actualy to protect the outside from the Residents. Every Resident and Body Guard are not what they seam and are actualy quite powerful and dangerous if they want to be. In addition to this revelation, the viewers are also introduced to a budding love story between Ririchyo and her would be Body Guard. What makes this an excellent series is how it introduces the Audience to all the characters. A background is given...

Disturbingly Entertaining
What can you say about an anime based on an ongoing manga that looks at the supernatural through the lens of two principle characters that hate themselves yet are trapped by their demonic ancestry? Both creepy and cute, arousing yet ridiculous, Inu X Boku SS is not a series for everyone.

This DVD collection offers all 12 episodes from the series along with another "episode" that appears to be three shorts that I had never seen before. The shorts do require that you see the series to fully understand but no one in the client-agent class of residents from this apartment complex is left out. These shorts also touch upon later issues of the first manga series.

Personally I found the English voice actors to be good but there were a few awkward moments when they spoke over each other and a voice seemed out of place; that's an issue for the English version director. The subtitled version does not seem to have these issues.

A very unusual romance with...

Humorous and entertaining.
Has quite a few different ending credits so be careful before skipping ahead. Had only watched the 1st episode prior so it was very nice that the rest of the season stayed true. Dont be fooled by the cover, the humor takes priority.

South America Quest Of Wonder

This is a very well done documentary on South America
The photography and places visited on this film are extraordinary. Very well worth watching. I learned some things here that I never knew existed before. Very beautiful photography and full of information to really make you want to experience a trip to see these sights in person.

Set Back in South America
Boring. Especially the long segment on the statues on Easter Island. And his conversations with these self-important people with mainly tourism interests? Uninteresting
Same old talk of Preservation Conservation and the importance of maintaining cultures. They sound like National Geographic interviewees from 30 years ago. No one cares what they are talking about.

Fantastic video.
This is a wonderful DVD with top quality video of diverse areas of South America.

It is good enough that I would immediately purchase a Blu-ray version of this production if and when available.

Paranormal Movie

No Subtitles? seems inconsiderate. Overall AWESOME !
I mean it's illegal to design & construct a building without handicap access. This film has the common issue of frequent fluctuations in sound FROM EXTREMELY QUIET DIALOGUE (which expedites with humorous adult oriented one liners to keep the audience entertained) TO LOUD MOANING & MARIACHI MUSIC. I wouldn't mind the broad fluctuations in audio if i could follow along reading subtitles while keeping the sound at a constant level. Obviously my real problem is that i don't have a remote control for my surround system because I'm a BUM, but that's a different issue I believe. The 2nd half of the film has a fairly constant level to be fair. Subtitles Please.

The Movie itself. Seems pretty funny with surprising celebrity cameos from the likes of Jake Busey & Kevin Sorbo, etc. Kevin Farley is not his brother Chris and it's not fair to try and compare this film to what the project could've been had it been helmed by Chris Farley (though honestly i have imagined). I LOVE SPOOF films...

Why did we do this to ourselves
Bad movie, not even worth the stupid humor, and I usually can get into some stupid humor!! Do not watch.

NICE TRY -- IT'S JUST NOT FUNNY ENOUGH
There has been a recent flux of found footage spoofs including this one from comedic actor Kevin Farley. Although there are some funny bits, they come too far apart to maintain the laughs. Satire IMO needs to be paced just right to be truly effective. For instance, the silly seizures of demonic possession are funny the first two times but Farley just overdoes it. Some of the cameos work well: eric Roberts, William Katt, Kevin Sorbo, Jake Busey, Robert Hays and Quintin Aranson. The Jack Goff character isn't one iota funny--just excessively crude.
I haven't seen A HAUNTED HOUSE yet but I'm hoping the Wayans Brothers do it right!

Great Show
I absolutely love this show! Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant talk to Karl Pilkington about everyday situations and how Karl handles/deals with life. Sometimes Karl's ideas do seem like an idiotic at first but after thinking about it for awhile he is actually quite brilliant. It is annoying that at this time we can only buy the digital version by the episode instead of the entire season like we can with the first and second seasons. Hopefully Amazon will fix this soon.

Buyer Beware
This is a great season of The Ricky Gervais Show. Its more of the same shenanigans from Ricky, Steve and Karl set to hilarious animation. I Shot JFK: The Shocking Truth

"I don't have any theories. All I have are the facts."
This is what my friend retired FBI agent Zack Shelton said about our investigation.

Let me first comment on the 1 star review from Sunnyreader. First of all it is incorrect that Files is not in any files. Just google for "Evidence for James Files continues to grow".

Secondly, Sunnyreader refers to Robert Groden as an authority on the JFK assassination. Robert Groden is a firm supporter of the confession of James Files. To see Robert's comments on Files search Youtube for: robert groden james files

Thirdly, Sunnyreader rates the new books by Richard Belzer, Dead Wrong and Hitlist, with 5 stars:

"Fantastic book!, Run, do not walk, to get this book! I loved their last book "Dead Wrong"- this one is even better. Highly recommended."

Richard Belzer is also a firm believer of James Files. In fact a large part of the JFK chapter in Dead Wrong is devoted to James Files. I quote from the book:

"Former FBI Special Agent Zack...

James Files and the Head Shot.....
Jim Marrs and Wim Dankbaar interview James Files in jail where he says he fired the head shot from the grassy knoll giving detail
of how he was involved in the crime of all time.Files explains how he worked for the CIA and the Mob as an assassin, worked with
L.H.Oswald who had the same CIA controller as himself. He also states that the CIA wanted to call off the assassination but the Mob in Dallas said no,it goes ahead regardless.I find this man convincing as a shooter on that day and surely deserves to be put
before an independent panel of judges to cross examine him. This dvd runs for 90mins and is one of many watchable dvds from
producer Wim Dankbaar including The Grassy Knoll just released, compelling viewing for those with an open mind.

Engaging.
In this DVD, James Files, confessed assassin of JFK, is interviewed By Jim Marrs, author of Crossfire: The Plot that Killed Kennedy. In this interview made in 2003, James Files takes the viewer on a journey, explaining why he did it, how he did it, why he is alive, and why he will never be charged with the murder of John F. Kennedy. This is culmination of an investigation which SHOULD have taken place in December of 1963. Instead, we got a bogus investigation, no trial and no actual conviction of Lee Harvey Oswald, since well he was conveniently killed on live television, with the entire country watching.

If Lee Harvey Oswald DID NOT shoot JFK. Then did this man do it?

Have you ever asked yourself if you really believe what your told in school about American history or world history in general? Most of what we are taught in elementary school about American History is wrong, when I look at our history now with a different set of eye glasses on. I cannot believe...

Blissful Lies

i loved it
I was sitting on the end of my seat through the whole movie. I was a great movie very suspenseful.

great movie
if you like
Leann hunley as an actress get this movie for it is really good. the packaging was in perfect shape and their was no damag to it at all

Anything with Leann Hunley gets Five Stars from Me!
I love Leann Hunley as an actress. She won me over instantly as Anna DiMera on Days of Our Lives. And now I will watch her in anything. She is convincing in every role she plays!

UPDATE: I finally watched this and Leann Hunley reminded me why I love her as an actress. She truly did make this movie, in my opinion. When an actress is well-known for a particular role, as we all know and love Leann as Anna Dimera, it is hard to not see the character she is known for when watching the actress in another role. As soon as the storyline developed in this movie, however, I completely forgot Leann as Anna DiMera, as this character was (in many ways) a marked departure from Anna DiMera. It truly gave us a chance to see sides of Leann's acting abilities that were amazing to watch, as we saw Leann reach deep insider herself and pull out so much angst.

Yes, there was so much angst in her character that we rarely got to see in Anna (so special when we do see it in Anna though...

Wubbzy: Best of Walden

Walden's First-Ever DVD Collection
This year I have had the chance to watch a few new cartoons that I have never heard of before. Last weekend, I watched the DVD Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! Best of Walden, which I received a complimentary copy in exchange for my honest review.

Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! aired from 2006 to 2010 on Nick Jr., totaling fifty-two episodes (two segments per episode) and two movies.

The Best of Walden DVD features six episodes about Wubbzy's friend Walden, who is the bookish, kindhearted, science nerd of the series. In these six twelve-minute episodes, Walden bakes a marshmallow lasagna, finds a strange elephant-like-creature in his yard, catches the Chickenitis, collects figgety-fig leaves, learns how to swim and how to be cool.

The episodes on the single disc are:

Perfecto Party
Mr. Cool
Walden on the Beach
Woozy Walden
Goo Goo Grief
The Last Leaf

Bonus Features are:

Coloring Activity Sheets
Music...

Encourages Individuality and Imagination
My kids have always been Wow Wow Wubbzy fans so they were thrilled to watch Best of Walden, the third in the "Best of" Wubbzy DVD series. Walden is Wubbzy's loveable friend known for his intelligence and creativity.

I've always loved the unique magical world Wubbzy and his friends live in. The bright color and distinct shapes really capture pre-schoolers attention. Their silly humor has my kids laughing all the way through and there is nothing my ears love more than the sound of my children's laughter.

While Walden may not be the "coolest" character, I loved the episode Mr. Cool where his friends encourage him and convince him that he is in fact cool and doesn't need to change who he is! I think it's such an important lesson for toddlers to realize that being cool doesn't mean being just like everyone else. I want my kids to feel free to be themselves and not try to fit into the mold of what society deems cool.

"Don't try to be something you're not" is...

Wow, wow, Walden!
This is the compilation of the best Walden episodes as voted by the fans. Walden learns how to be cool yet stay true to who he is. Learns how to be honest with his friends about things he's afraid of (swimming at the beach) & much more. Walden may be the smart one of the group of friends but he is also very adorable with charm & an Australian accent. Kids can learn a lot from Walden & parents can feel safe with their kids watching it.

The Sorcerer and The White Snake [Blu-ray]

Fantastic Movie
This was a great movie. I was truly surprised how good it was. There were some fantastical Kung Fu scenes, but the story was not soley about Kung Fu. As another reviewer said it was a re-telling of a legend. The film was visually stunning and rich. The character development was average but spoken reference to the main characters back stories helped fill in the gaps. one of the many things I loved about this film was its boldness of stepping into the realm of old asian cultural mythology and presenting it as a reality that all the characters in the film accepted as their reality. It was a cautionary tale of love between humans and demons, an exploration of the Jet Li's assumptions (as the head of a buddhist monastery), a demonstration of faith by the buddhist monks, and a beautiful but subtle revelation of layers of buddhist belief, which unfortunately will be missed by the average american viewer. All of this in a Jet Li Kung Fu movie! what could be better? I love this film and will...

Beautiful and Super Sweet
This was a very sweet film, more than I expected. The imagery is really beautiful. It's a simple story told simply. It reminds me of the fairytales I read to by daughter. However, it is increadibly touching love story and pulled tears from both my husband and I. It was a pleasant surprise.

Beautiful Love story...
This movie is a combination of love story, kung fu, and art. It s not a pure kung fu art movie but in a love story side, please read words and you would see how beautiful it is.

Fold Crumple Crush: The Art of El Anatsui

An Exciting View into the Real Life of a Great Contemporary Artist
I have been following the career of El Anatsui for a few years since I first saw his astonishing tapestry-like works constructed from discarded metal. I have experienced numerous shows at his New York gallery and in academic and museum venues. During his retrospective at Wellesley College, I heard him speak and participate in a discussion about his work. I have read scholarly essays about his art, its antecedents, cultural influences, method of working, etc., but this video is the first time that I have been able to gain insight into what his life at home and in his studio is actually like. It was a revelation to me since I am so much a product of my American cultural conditioning and lifestyle that I think everyone lives the way we do here. Now that I see Nsukka, where he has lived and taught for so many years, I find it overwhelming that his works found their way into the upper echelons of the bigtime art world even though they are so inventive and fabulous . How did it ever happen...

great artist, fine video
The celebrated Africanist, Susan Vogel, does a careful, sensitive job exploring the stupendous "cloth" hangings by Africa's foremost visual artist, El Anatsui. She surveys his methods of construction of meticulous, creative, and dazzling "mosaics" of liquor bottle caps and sleeves, stitched together with copper wire, and shows how a huge relief hanging was installed in the 2007 Venice Biennalle. The video has interviews with the modest yet articulate artist and his colleagues in Nsukka, Nigeria, and with the American critic and curator, Robert Storr.
An important addition to films on African artists.

The subject dwarfs the film
The art of El Anatsui is revelatory and imposing. The film is monotonous, repetitive, and ends by trivializing the methods and diminishing the monumentality of the artist's vision. It is worth seeing only for the glimpses of El Anatsui's works that someone - like this viewer - might otherwise not have had the opportunity of seeing in person. Subtitles would have helped to strain the often incomprehensible thickness of the spoken comments.

Hey Dude: Season Four

Buy Season 4, So We Can Get the Final Season
We're almost at the complete series!

Granted this DVD set is not available directly through Amazon, but it was no hassle ordering via this seller. I would definitely recommend it.

I loved this show as a kid. Watching it now, you see how corny some of the storylines are:
--Mr. Ernst gets to be Sheriff for a day!--
--Danny becomes a cartoonist for the local paper!--
--Mr. Ernst can lower his insurance premium if all the staff pass a lifeguard test by the end of that same day!--
--An archeological site right on the Bar None!--

That said, it still holds up pretty well. I even found myself laughing out loud a few times. And now that I'm old I can appreciate some of the wry/irreverent humor.

There's some pretty great moments on these DVDs.
--The Dud Ranch, The Vlecks and their snake eyes stew, Kyle's hat head, Jake's drum solos
--Val Vleck wanting to jump Mr. Ernst's bones
--Mel, Jake, and Danny accusing each...

Perfect!
What to say? The DVDs have the show on them, and that's great! I expect no less from a DVD manufacturer!

The good ole 90's
This dvd takes me back to the 90's when I used to watch this on nicklelodean. The good old days

The Man Who Knew Too Much

"Too Much" Is More Than Enough
The Criterion Collection has done it again! For several years now, they've been filling in the blank spaces in the collections of film lovers, and now it's a newly remastered version of Alfred Hitchcock's 1934 thriller, THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH. As one of Hitchcock's biggest fans, I'm here to tell you that there has never been a really good print of this early masterpiece available on DVD before, to say nothing of Blu-Ray. Now, thanks to Criterion, we have both!

This was Hitchcock's first version of the venerable spy story; he filmed it again in 1955 with James Stewart and Doris Day (The Man Who Knew Too Much). Fans argue about which is the better version, and the director himself preferred the later one, but I love them both equally. There's something truly charming about the earlier film, and it includes one great performance that doesn't have a correlative in the 1955 version.

The story...

Nice Restoration, from someone who actually has the Blu-ray to watch.
We all know the movie, what everyone wants to know is how this new Criterion restoration looks.
I can tell you that this is the BEST The Man Who Knew Too Much has ever looked. An original Nitrate Fine Grain that was made from the Nitrate Camera Original Negatives was used to make this Blu-ray. Apparently the Nitrate Camera Original Negatives are lost or have disintegrated, so this is the best film master available. This Nitrate film Fine Grain was located in the British Archive.

The Gray Tones are perfect, no loss of details in the shadows or light areas.

The focus may not be as sharp as a modern film, but it is very good. Only the original camera negatives would give a sharper image.

The film condition is near flawless. i believe this was a wet-gate transfer (using a liquid that would fill in any scratches when transferring to video). The source film was fairly free of wear to begin with.

Image stabilization was used to steady the...

Very poor picture and sound spoil a good film
A very poor transfer of a very good film.Laserlight have done nothing to restore the print. The picture is dark and washed out.The sound is also very poor. The story has some great scenes, such as the finale in the hall where the assassination attempt takes place, but you have to watch a muddy picture with crackling sound.Wait for another version to come out.

The Power of Aikido

Not really aikido (except for the initial credits) - but Sonny Chiba does kick butt!
I study aikido and enjoy Sonny Chiba on the screen, so bought this video, not expecting too much since as far as I know Sonny Chiba did not study aikido (at least not like he studied karate and kendo, in which he has black belts). As it turns out, the movie features his younger brother as the lead, and Sonny is his nemesis. The intro credits roll to the background music of pretty decent Japanese 70's funk music, with footage of the second head of aikido, Kisshomaru Ueshiba, doing techniques with students.

OK, so far so good. But that's as authentically aikido as it gets. The movie is about the biography of the founder of aikido, Morihei Ueshiba, but it's almost entirely fictional. There are some vague echoes here and there of the actual biography, but names, places, and events are different. And worst of all, the movie version is actually much less interesting than the real biography. While they're bastardizing everything, the characters, of course, barely do anything...

carlos
I don't like it. The only one good is the beginner part. The rest is a distortioned history of O'Sensei.

The Power of Aikido
This is the story of Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of Aikido. So great is the profile of Mr Ueshiba that in the last few decades of his long life many people swore that they had seen him walking through a solid wall. In some basic sense, Aikido is the same as Tai Chi. It uses Ki(Ch'i) and the power of one's opponent against himself. But, not every martial artist can master Aikido or Tai Chi. After persisting with Tai Chi for a few months, Bruce Lee gave it up. Similarly, even though this reviewer is a senior instructor in a Kung Fu school and a black belt in Ju Jit Su, he is unable to use Aikido or Tai Chi as a fighting art, even though the famous movie star, Steven Seagal is certainly able to do so (He is the only Caucasian who has an Aikido dojo in Tokyo). Still, this movie is quite enjoyable to watch. Even though Aikido stems from ,inter alia, Judo, its throwing techniques are very different from Judo or Ju Jit Su, or for that matter the Chinese Chin Na. If you are a martial arts...

Hyde Park on Hudson

99% Fabrication; Read The Book Instead
I want to thank the producers of this god-awful film for sending me running to Geoffrey Ward's "Closest Companion," the edited version of Daisy Suckley's diaries and the Suckley-Roosevelt correspondence that tells the real story of their special friendship. Having read many accounts of the Roosevelt administration and New Deal, including bios of FDR (Kearns Goodwin, Smith) and Eleanor (Wieson Cook), I was looking forward to "Hyde Park on the Hudson" I admire Murray and Linney, whose talents are wasted on this turgid, maudlin soap opera that takes heaps and heaps of liberties with history, distorting the characters of all concerned -- Suckley, FDR, Eleanor and the Royals -- and depicting and conflicts that almost certainly did not -- as certain as we can be w/o having been there, which these producers most assuredly were not -- occur.

Suckley was an upper-crust Hudson Valley lady, a sixth cousin of FDR, who become his devoted companion and best friend. Although they had...

A Little Summer Music
Two noticeable aspects on this site - the paucity of reviews of this period piece film and the number of negative comments that seem to blanket the responses to this very quiet little recreation of a moment in history about which few may be aware. In many ways this film, as written by Richard Nelson and directed by Roger Michell, resembles a little European art film: the recreation of conditions in the USA in the post Depression era are remarkably apt and set a fine tenor for the story (including the musical score!). In the end this is a tale about how men in powerful places interrelate in moments of tension and how those same men have flaws both physical and in character that would weigh down ordinary fellows. But the story is about a particular summer in when Britain, on the brink of war with Hitler, visited America, hoping for Allied assistance in the war that was to become World War II.

The setting is the home away form the White House - Hyde Park on the Hudson, the...

Film can't make up its mind about which story it's telling, but Bill Murray shines as FDR
Hyde Park On Hudson is something of a problematic film, an uneven mix of some excellent performances and cinematography dragged down by a schizoid screenplay that can't seem to make up its mind which of two stories it's trying to tell: Margaret "Daisy" Suckley's long-term relationship with President Franklin Delano Roosevelt as his mistress (or one of them, anyway), or the historic visit of King George VI to meet with FDR on the eve of WWII, the first time a reigning British monarch had ever visited the US. Either would've made an interesting story, but in Hyde Park On Hudson, they end up working at cross purposes, leaving the whole disappointingly less than of the sum of its parts.

The film begins in the early 1930's when Daisy (Laura Linney) is unexpectedly summoned by FDR's formidable mother, Sara (Elizabeth Wilson) to their home, Springwood, in Hyde Park, New York, to be a personal assistant to Franklin (Bill Murray in a truly remarkable performance). Daisy, a spinster...

Ruh-Roh! [HD]

Fantastic Show
I've watched both the British and American versions of Being Human. They are a more grown-up version of the many vampire and werewolf shows out there, but not as "sexified" as some of the others. I enjoy both versions of the show, but the American version really hits the mark on a great show. The British version had too many cast changes that negatively affected the plot, and caused, I would say, writing problems. The American version has been able to keep their characters, and really keep developing their relationships. There are many episodes of the show that have pulled the strings of my heart and really made me feel for the characters and what they are going through. The actors have done a great job being realistic and convincing in their made-up world of vampires, werewolves and ghosts.

Another good aspect of the writing in the American version, is that all of the plot twists are well thought out and well explained; opposed to the British version, which left the...

I love this show
I can't get enough of this show. I love use of "monsters" to relate to real world every day issues.
Great show!

Been Good Since Season 1
This is the American version of a British show but I have watched it since Season 1 and it took me a few episodes to get into it (and I think the writers got better) and now it is a guilty pleasure I watch religiously. Great stuff.

Family Ties: The Sixth Season

If you want to see Family Ties season 6 released...
Everyone that wants to see this (and season 7) get released needs to send an email to Paramount Home Entertainment's customer service at:

phe_customerservice@paramount.com

They will reply! Just send them a general note asking when season 6/7 is coming out, and tell them how bad you want it released. They have told me it is not on their upcoming release schedule, so we need to make our voices heard! If you want this on DVD take a couple of minutes and send them an email, repost this everywhere you can. The only way this is coming out is if all the Family Ties fans get together and make enough noise, don't let this be one of countless shows that never gets it's release finished!

Paramount, Please finish putting this show out!
Love Family Ties! Grew up watching this show as a kid in the 80s. It ended in 1989 when I was 13. I just wish Paramount would release the last 2 seasons so us fans can complete our collections.

Season 6 I think got moved to Sunday nights if memory serves me correct. This season Alex has a new girlfriend Lauren Miller (played by Courtney Cox, who was not that well known yet.) The first episode of the season is a ONE HOUR EPISODE where Alex meets Lauren. Lauren is doing a assignment for her college course about OVER ACHIEVERS. She decides to use Alex for her project and gives him a pollygraph test, Which is absolutely hilarious. I have this episode on a Columbia House Video but would love to have it and the rest of the series on DVD. You will die laughing at the pollygraph scene.

Please Paramount put the rest of Family Ties out, SOON!

where is season 6???
i am a huge fan of family ties and have been waiting for season 6 to come out on dvd...it's been since march 2009 since season 5 was released....i want the last two seasons to be released...it's way overdue....

Letter Bee: Season 2 - Collection 1

One of the best TV anime in recent years
Tegami Bachi: Letter Bee makes use of a lot of the elements that make a good anime: Engaging characters, an original plot, comedy, drama, cool action scenes, and of course, crazy hair! I need not expound on the plot, as you already have a decent product description, so I'll spare you of that.

The show is beautifully drawn, with an equally beautiful color palette to go with it and as mentioned, the action scenes, while not as frequent as in other anime, are fun to watch. Tegami Bachi's biggest fault animation-wise, however, are the CGI Gaichuu (gaint armored bugs), which look horribly out of place in their (mostly) 2D animated world. But the writing makes up for it.

This is a shounen series (aimed at teenage boys), so expect some action violence, a little profanity, and the occasional immodestly-dressed girl. Later episodes also have some nudity, but the naughty bits are covered up. There's also at least one Letter Bee Academy short that has a bit of off-color...

Delirium (Psycho Puppet) [VHS Retro Style] 1979

Very dodgy VHS transfer
I've been looking for this title for ages, so I guess its pretty amazing that it's even available. And it brings me another step closer to completing my collection of Video Nasties on DVD/Blu-ray.

However the quality is really bad. I have around 2000 films on DVD & Blu-ray and this is probably has the worst video quality of the lot. Its very obviously a VHS rip (the on-screen display from the player even briefly appears for the first second or so of play). The credits text at bleeds so badly that its impossible to read (and the font isn't exactly easy to read). Everything is dark and murky making it impossible to see what's going on in most of the night scenes. Then there's the really bad DVD encoding making everything so heavy pixelated that any detail that might have remained on the VHS tape is now totally lost. This is particular bad in the night scenes and whenever anything moves - anything in a moving car is virtually unwatchable.

The soundtrack is...

Another rare title released
Not to be confused with Polsellis or bavas Delirium, this is one of the original video nasties aka Psycho Puppet.

We are presented with basically two different films here: the first half is a full on slasher flick about Charlie, an ex Vietnam soldier who has lost his marbles. The second half is about a shady organization which hires ex-Vietnam soldiers to help clean up the streets and dish out their own justice to the filth and scum. Charlie was an employee of the organization, but flashbacks from the vietnam war have pushed him too far. Charlie now kills for thrills, and even though the murders are quite tame,it was these scenes that got the film banned.
First released in the UK in July 1982 by VTC, director Peter Maris' Delirium was added to the DPP list in November 1983. It wasn't long before the film was dropped from the list in May 1985. In 1987 Global Sales were granted a cut release of the film for home video titled Psycho Puppet. Since then the film has never...

Messiah Of Evil [VHS Retro Style] 1973

An Uncanny, Poetic Masterpiece
Who knew what darkness lay in the hearts of Willard Huyck and Gloria Katz, the screenwriting team that brought us *American Graffiti* and *Howard The Duck*? Huyck also directed this tale of atavistic resurgence run amok.

A young woman travels to a small seaside town to search for her missing father, a local artist. There, she meets a curious *ménage a trois*: An effete researcher into ancient legends and his two female traveling companions. The uncooperative townspeople from whom they seek information resemble somnambulists, especially at night, when they gather on the beach and gaze longingly out to sea under a reddening moon. Other weird and terrifying portents soon appear: An old drunkard warns the heroine that, here, the corpses must be burned, not buried; a man offers a hitchhiker a mouse--when she refuses it, he eats it alive; tears of blood drip from the townspeople's eyes; live insects and vermin spew from their mouths. As the heroine and her companions...

Impressed
[Note: I have only seen "Messiah of Evil"].

I approached "Messiah of Evil" without expecting much, but the movie delivered a great deal more than expected. Considering the relatively unknown status of this film, it has many standout psychological horror scenes. The scene in the supermarket is genuinely disturbing. And the scene in the movie theater terrified me for reasons I don't fully understand (and few movies frighten me). And who can deny the wonder of the off-the-wall "beach-mouse" scene?

This is an unconventional zombie movie with genuine artistic value (as far-fetched as it sounds).

Zombieville U.S.A.
MESSIAH OF EVIL begins with a young woman in a mental institution. She tells of her search for her missing father (played brilliantly by Royal Dano). Her quest takes her to a tiny beach-town called Point Dune. She is joined by a strange trio (Michael Greer and two beautiful women, one of whom was the queen of "The Bee Girls") who seem to be seeking answers of their own. Together, they encounter a town population gone mad! Increasingly, we see townfolk who have been slowly transformed into a horde of flesh-eating zombies! In one memorable scene (of which there are many), a girl goes to the movie theatre to see "Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye", where she is slowly surrounded by eerie-looking zombie patrons. This flick is an excellent twist on the undead theme, with many genuinely scary moments and a building atmosphere of dread that is almost suffocating. The "Messiah" himself is a man in black who first appeared a century ago, killing people and turning them into zombies. He called this his...

The Ricky Gervais Show: The Complete Third Season

Great Show
I absolutely love this show!

Its more of the same shenanigans from Ricky, Steve and Karl set to hilarious animation. over-rated
I should have listened to Leopold. Despite the stunning color and clarity of the front cover, that is not what most of this movie shows. Fangoria Presents Entity [HD]

The Entity
Very surprised by this one! It is yet another "found footage" film, and lord knows, I thought they had beat that horse to death, but I was wrong. Anyway, some investigative reporters are on their way to Siberia to investigate the goings-on at a previously used psychiatric hospital. On the way, their lead psychic encounters many visions of people that suffered horrible deaths. Why they suffered those deaths is never explained, but I digress.

I found the mood of this movie to be better than most of its genre, and the acting was very good. The haunting score also made for a very effective mood for this movie.

I enjoyed "The Entity," and think you will too. Do not expect to see an over-the-top gorefest, because that is not what this movie is about. Enjoy.

MEN WHO STARE AT PSYCHICS
This in "Entity" with the a backwards "N" so not to be confused by other films with the same name. In this film there are no women sexually abused by a ghost. Don't blame me, I didn't write it.

This film takes place in remote Sadovich, Siberia, Russia. We get a glimpse of some 1983 footage of a gaunt nude man in a cell with odd things going on, including levitation. We quickly come to the present where a camera crew is going to the same area. They were contacted by Yuri (Branko Tomovic) who claims 34 people were found in a shallow grave in a remote glade. With the help of Ruth (Dervla Kirwan) a psychic, he hopes to find out what happened as the authorities will not say. A camera crew comes along. Kate (Charlotte Riley) is the reporter/director who reminded me of Sandra Bullock. Charlotte Riley is a rising star. Matt (Rupert Hill) is the camera man and David (Oliver Jackson) is the token guy who needs to grow a set. Someone has to be the first to die.

Ruth is the...

Not bad...Not great...but Not bad.
With only one other review, I really wasn't sure if this was something I wanted to spend my money to watch. I depend on reviews from others when deciding on my instant viewing purchases. But, I have to say this wasn't a bad movie at all. It wasn't exactly the greatest horror film I've ever seen; but the plot was good, the acting was decent, and it did give off a pretty creepy vibe. I will say that it is not incredibly fast placed, it does take a bit to get to where it was going, but in the end it did draw me in. I would say it's a decent ghost story and if you have an afternoon or evening to kill it wouldn't be a waste of time or money.

Planet Ocean [HD]

Filmed for the whole world, with love.
I was shocked at some of the low scores this film was getting here, so I felt compelled to voice my opinion and debate some of the complaints I'd read:

Some people felt this film was too depressing or that the science was too basic, but Planet Ocean was crafted to define and showcase the severity of our marine situation. If you viewed the bonus, making-of features, the director explained that he is trying to boost awareness, and educate people from around the world. Many of whom, haven't heard the concerns of climate control or pollution before, like we have. Many people around just don't realize what is at stake. The footage is beautiful and sometimes terrifying, but that keeps even the least scientific-minded among us from changing the channel. This wasn't meant to be "Blue Planet II."

A few complained about that jab on religion, spoken in the film's closing. It is not meant to be offensive or to convert you to a different spiritual view, except to point out...

Great documentary...beautiful put together
I really enjoyed this documentary and found it very informative and interesting. I read some of the reviews here and I can't believe some are calling it 'anti-religious'? Did I miss something? Because I did not get that Impression at all. I think some people are so touchy just because they showed a statue of jesus in Rio De Jenaro. I really don't understand some people's views or way of thinking. The man who narrated this Josh Duhamel happens to be very religious and is catholic (like me). I am considering buying this DVD after renting it from Netflix.

Visually Beautiful and Powerful Message
I'm sure some of my regular readers are scratching their heads right now, wondering why in the world I'm reviewing a documentary about the ocean. I mean, my blog is a genre-focused site, so this is a bit out of the norm. Let's just say that this film is so good and the message so pertinent that I simply had to share it. PLANET OCEAN is an excellent documentary, and I recommend giving it a look.

I love all things that have to deal with the ocean, which is one of the reasons I wanted to review PLANET OCEAN so much. I am particularly fond of being underwater as well, so documentaries on undersea life are sort of a guilty pleasure for me. If you follow my blog, you know that my primary focuses are horror, sci-fi, and fantasy...but, my guilty pleasure sometimes takes precedence and, well, here we are.

The fine folks at Universal were kind enough to send me a Blu-ray version of this film as well, so I had the privilege of seeing it in HD. If you want a good way...

Boss: Season 2 [Blu-ray]

A Twisted And Twisty Political Soap Opera From Starz Has A Stellar Second (And Last) Season
Of all the shows from 2012, the second season of Starz's "Boss" was my choice for the most improved. Don't get me wrong, I loved Season One of this dark and twisted political soap opera! When I reviewed it, I gave it my highest recommendation. But the show probably connected slightly more with my brain than with my heart. In the ten episodes that comprise this set, the writers managed to streamline the most successful elements of the first year and also give some of the underutilized peripheral characters a greater chance to shine. In truth, this may well be one of my absolute favorites from the 2012 line-up.

The show is filled with Machiavellian maneuvering, duplicitous double dealing, and insane political posturing. Chicago city government (as well as a state election) is the arena for the never ending game and all the players are jostling for the best position and the preservation of their own self interest. The heightened drama unfolds with an operatic grandeur...

Second Season of Boss Hits Too Close to Home for a Season Three
The two seasons of Boss were so close to political truth they were scary. It would not shock me to find out that Starz was asked not to continue the series by those who have influence over the industry for their own political reasons. I also believe that it may have been too "intellectually" challenging for the viewers of the usual action violence as opposed to the undercover targeted violence of political intrigue and scandal. I will miss this series and have recommended it to many who NEVER saw Boss while it was on the air. Too bad, Kelsey Grammar and cast will be sorely missed. I am glad to own season 1 and now to order season 2.

Excellent
I am sorry that this show was cancelled. It is awesome. I hope that a movie is made. 5 Stars.

Musical Solo Drumming

Amazing! Worth every penny.
What a great video. A sit-down with the master. All of the performances are in a studio and all improvised with percussion performances as well. Terry talks about his philosophy and gives instructions and some lessons. Highly recommended.

Once I Was a Champion

Awesome Documentary !
I am a big fight fan and watch Mixed-Martial-Arts since many years and therefore heard about the death of Evan Tanner in 2008, a former UFC Champion and also Pancrase Champion.
The highly skilled fighter had given it his all inside the cage and had a very successful career. This docu is more about the man and not so much the fighter. Lots of friends who knew Tanner talk about his troubled life, his girlfriend of almost 8 years gives insight into the soul of Evan Tanner. Tanner had alcohol problems, he was a truthseeker, he showed sympathy with his opponents, and no injury inside the cage could stop him.
It is a very moving documentary and definitely one of the best docus I ever saw. You see the struggles of a man, you can sense he burned a few bridges in life because of his inner demons, but he always keeps going forward.
Dana White, former UFC Champions Randy Couture, Forrest Griffin and Rich Franklin, Chael Sonnen and many others appear in this documentary. Bas Rutten...

Strong film
Even if you are not a MMA participant or enthusiast you will still find a great character study that unfolds when viewing this documentary on the late former UFC middleweight champion Evan Tanner. Powerful and raw, this film depicts a man who fights his battles both inside the ring and out. Unfolding like chapters in a novel, the film utilizes interviews from those who have happened to be a part of his life, depiciting the many complex sides of this man fighting all to common hurdles. Never superficial, we get both the good and bad of Evan's journey through life which cumulates into allowing the viewer to decide for themselves how they want to remember this man.

Don't judge the UFC thing...this is about a man
This is an amazing documentary about a human being, not just a fighter, if you know what I mean? Evan Tanner was an interesting dude, and it became obvious as to why he was so unique, because he was someone who tried to think, or at least think about other things other than busting people up. More importantly, he struggled with alcohol; so, this is a must see for anyone who has that issue. You will see how even a "tough guy" can be broken by a few beers etc...destroyed his life and may have ended it early.

Last Flight of Petr Ginz, The

Brilliant and creative film on gifted 16-year-old Czech writer and artist killed during holocaust - Riveting!
Until I watched this 66-minute film (2012), I had no idea who Petr Ginz was, and until 2007 neither did most people; even though who studied the holocaust. But, when one of Ginz' drawings was chosen to go on the space shuttle Columbia, and it was mentioned in reports of Columbia's fatal crash, his name got out. His sister, Eva, two years his junior survived the holocaust and discovered his illustrated diaries and they were published in book form in 2008. Through masterful direction and the creative use of animation (to bring Ginz's story to life), Directors Sandy Dickson and Churchill Roberts have told the world about this "genius", who, at age 6 was making drawings, and by age 14 he had written five novels and, by 16 produced 170 drawings and painting and edited an underground newspaper in the concentration camp in Terezin. At age 16 he was transported to Auschwitz where he died in the gas chamber.
As the film progressed - using many archival family photos provided by Eva - and...

Amazing story of Petr Ginz
An amazing story of a remarkable young man during the darkest of times. If only we all could have his heart, courage, and strength to live like Petr did. The film incorporates a great story using historical photos, animation, and real time with excellent music. Two thumbs up!

An extraordinary young life, cruelly extinguished in the flames of the Holocaust
"The Last Flight of Petr Ginz" is a compelling documentary that chronicles the brief life of Holocaust victim, Petr Ginz. Back in 2003, when space shuttle Columbia was preparing for its 28th mission, Israeli astronaut, Ilan Ramon wished to take something from the Holocaust on board with him and Yad Vashem gave him a drawing of Earth from space as imagined by Petr Ginz, who drew it when he was 14-years-old while being incarcerated at Terezin concentration camp during WW II. Petr's sister, Eva Ginz Pressburger (who lives in Israel), thinks it is fitting that her brother finally got to go to space as he once wished.

When the space shuttle disintegrated upon re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere, the publicity led to the discovery of Petr's diary in a Prague attic.

The format of this documentary is wonderfully imaginative in piecing together Petr's life story. In a wonderful blend of animation, interviews with Petr's sister, and archival materials such as video...

All That Way For Love [HD]

A beautiful tragic thriller
Idealism and cynicism clash on the road in Africa. Simon (Andrew Simpson), a young Irishman, is traveling across the continent to get to his doctor girlfriend in Mozambique. Stuck in Malawi, he hitches a ride with a nomadic older couple Casper (Derek de Lint) and Kate (Belinda Stewart-Wilson). Without wishing it, Simon becomes embroiled in their complicated history. Their dark psychological relationship becomes infecting.

`All That Way For Love' is a perceptive examination of the character of travellers; nomadic westerners who can't or won't put down roots. The film explores the complexities of human sexual relationships and the bonds between people. Set against the stunning backdrop of East Africa, 'All That Way For Love' is a beautiful tragic thriller.

Belinda Stewart-Wilson (The Inbetweeners) plays the intriguing and seductive Kate. Andrew Simpson (Notes On A Scandal) captures the naivety and idealism of Simon. And veteran actor, Derek de Lint (Black Book,...

Kiss Yesterday Goodbye [HD]

the carrie diaries
If u love sex and the city, you'll love the Carrie diaries!!! It's excellent! The actress who plays Carrie is perfect for the part!

I Love Anna Sophia as Carrie!
AnnaSophia is an incredible actor; she's elevated everything I've seen her in by her mere presence and she most definitely does the same with this project. Her enthusiasm is contageous and I'll definitely continue watching just for her alone.

At first, I was annoyed because it's not SATC all over again. Then I realized, the SATC moves WERE SATC all over again and I was soooo tired of SATC over and over and over! This is different. It's cute, fresh, surprising and sweet. And it has some actual acting talent (as did SATC, of course!). It also offers a wonderful visual experience (the 80's always done) and the scenes feel real and authentic. It would be easy just to do a tableau of 80's images with no plot and this is not that. I'll keep watching for true entertainment and I'll try to keep my SATC-expert-know-it-all self quiet (perhaps I can soothe her with a cosmo?)

I think You need to understand that this show is not a SATC prequel, it's a CW show. It doesn't feel...

So in Loveeee with this show
I am totally in Loveeee with this show. I just wish the plot with Carrie and Sebastian would be more. I just cant wait until the next week when I can watch it again. I hope everyone loves this as much as me. I am a child of the 80's and its a great flashback.
